Poetry Reading
I attended the poetry reading of all the creative writing classes last Thursday and I had to post about how impressed I was. I couldn’t believe the amount of well articulated, honest, and emotional variety of poems and student poets. The topics were unique, some were traumatic while others analyzed a simplistic action. I just had to post and commend these beginning poets for their tremendous talent.

I agree with you Megan. I attended that reading as well and I must admit it was really refreshing to hear some new voices and beginning poets. To see someone on stage express their own points of view, and not those of an experienced poet is a very interesting experience. I also agree with you in that I appreciated the emotional honesty that often characterized their work. It was very good of them to share sentimental, nostalgic and personal experiences with all of us.

I think it’s very impressive how much writing talent there is at this school…I’m in Intro to Creative Writing right now and we’re in our poetry half of the semester and listening to some of my peers read their poetry aloud is quite inspiring. Such a wide variety of perspectives and ideas have been presented in the class and I am always so proud to be surrounded by such good writers : )
